Ross winners named
THE ANNUAL New Ross District G.A.A. awards presentation night will take place in the Horse and Hound Hotel, Ballinaboola, on Saturday, March 27, and as usual an enjoyable occasion with a good representation from all ten clubs is expected in addition to a few people from outside the area.
A representative from each of the clubs will receive a presentation in recognition and in appreciation of the good work which they have done for their club over a long number of years. There will also be special presentations made to three other recipients.
Marty Breen of the Rathgarogue-Cushinstown club is the recipient of the supreme award for his work over the years as Secretary of his local club and in more recent times with various county committees and for the G.A.A. in general.
Gráinne Murphy of The Horse and Hound, Ballinaboola, will receive an award for her swimming achievements at home and abroad.
The captain of the Wexford Senior football championship-winning Horeswood team, Tommy Howlin, will receive a presentation, as will Aisling Mullan who captained the St. James' ladies' football team to win county and provincial honours.
The following club members will receive well-merited awards - Adamstown: Mick Foley, Carrigadaggin; Bannow-Ballymitty: Pat Neville, Park,Wexford; Clongeen: Margaret Colfer, Rosegarland; Fethard: Tom Power, Houseland; Geraldine O'Hanrahans: Michael 'Skipper' Dalton, Pondfields; Gusserane: Seamus Cullen, Kinnagh; Horeswood: Michael Duffin, Ballyfarnogue; Rathgarogue-Cushinstown: James Bolger Snr., Templenacro; St. James': Willie Cheevers, Arthurstown; TaghmonCamross: Eric O'Sullivan, Jenkinstown, Co. Kilkenny.
The Horse and Hound Hotel are the main sponsors of the awards, while Michael Wallace of Tír Na nÓg in Wellingtonbridge sponsors the club of the year trophy. The winners will only be made known on the night.
