Sullivan and Barron master all-comers
THE COUNTY Wexford Novice and Masters road races were held in ideal conditions in Bridgetown on Sunday last, and it was most encouraging to see such a large turn-out for both the ladies' and men's races.
The results of both contests are below, although the category results and Novice results won't be available for a few days, as clarification is needed on athletes' grades.
First off were the ladies, over 3km, and this saw a head-to-head between Ann Sullivan (D.M.P.) and Jackie Carty (Kilmore). The pair had finished second and third respectively on their last meeting in the county Senior cross-country race in December and it was again Ann who had the upper hand.

The men's race was held over two laps of the 3km circuit covered by the ladies, and Kevin Murphy (Slaney Olympic) set out to make it a good test.
However, last year's winner, David Barron (also S.O.), was in close attendance throughout and he kicked on in the final two kilometres to open a decisive gap and thus repeat the 2009 win from Enniscorthy.
