W.I.T. defend title

Wednesday February 17 2010

NEXT WEEKEND promises to be a very exciting one as a total of 16 college camogie teams will participate in the penultimate stages of the Purcell and Ashbourne competitions which are being hosted by Cork Institute of Technology

Waterford I.T. go in as Ashbourne champions but know that 2009 is now history as they face a tough cup semi-final battle with University of Ulster Jordanstown on Saturday at 1.30 p.m. in C.I.T. Featuring in the W.I.T. panel from Wexford are team captain Ursula Jacob along with her county colleagues, Katrina Parrock and Stacey Redmond.

Meanwhile, Wexford duo James Gahan (Ballygarrett) and Colin Lacey (Ferns St. Aidan's) came on for the college in their 0-18 to 1-11 Fitzgibbon Cup group match defeat to L.I.T., while the panel also features Joe Kelly (Shelmaliers), Mark Molloy (St. James') and Michael Walsh (Ferns St. Aidan's).

This defeat leaves W.I.T. needing to win their final group game against U.C.C. to secure a home quarter-final against more than likely N.U.I.G., D.I.T. or U.C.D. However, defeat would result in a trip to take on last year's finalists, U.L.
