Young guns shown the ropes
WEXFORD'S ATHLETICS County Board's development squad members attended a squad day organised by the Board's development team last weekend.
Over 40 of the county's top Juvenile athletes were put through their paces by national sprint and high jump champions, Darragh Graham and Rose Daniels, Athletics Ireland Regional Officer Ryan Montgomery, and national squad coach George Ayres.
The four-hour session saw the athletes given valuable lessons in their specific events, focusing on technique development.
This was followed by a seminar in planning and nutrition by Coaching Ireland under the Lucozade Sports support programme.
The squad day was the highlight so far of the 2010 programme for the county's top Juvenile athletes, with the Development Board looking into further opportunities in competition and coaching in the coming months.
Wexford's Juvenile athletes will line up next at the weekend's All-Ireland indoor track and field championships.
