Lovely spring weather saw the the end of the Winter League in St. Helen's Bay on Saturday with perfect conditions for golf. With an exciting, nail-biting finish - so close that it was down to the last man in - champions were Furlong's Furies, beating Bossy Breda's by 96 points to 90. This competiton is going from strength to strength each year.
Saturday, March 6, single sweep 15 holes: a bitterly cold start to the day, which improved when the sun came out, didn't deter Eileen Brosnan (16) from bringing in 30 points, winning on the countback, with Bernie Furlong (23) with 30 points also. Well done ladies.
Sunday, March 7, single sweep, 15 holes: it was another beautiful day for golf, with Ann Parkinson (19) playing some terriffic stuff, featuring pars on the first, second, seventh and 14th to take first place with 33 points.
Lady Captain Jean (20) had to settle for second place with a terrific score of 30 points. Keep up the good golf ladies.
