THE CARD on Monday last featured the semifinals of the Michael Meade and Track Supporters' Club Unraced Stake.
The first semi was the fourth race and saw trap two's Bobs Tom, owned by Gareth Cahill, improve on his win of the previous week when scoring by two and a half lengths from Headway Mossey in a useful 29.36.
The second semi went to trap five runner Ballinaboola Boss, owned by Niamh Murphy (New Ross), also following up his first round win when coming home four and a half lengths clear of Fair Dubh in 29.43. The final will be run this Thursday night.
Race one was the first round heat of the Glenbrien Kennels A6 N/B 525 and there was an easy win for trap five's Reggae Scoby, owned by Caroline Redmond (Enniscorthy), who came home 13 lengths to the good over Kellistown Wind in a good 29.11, a big improvement on previous efforts.
Heat two was a much closer race and trap five was to get the verdict by half a length as Elusive Red, owned by Oliver Mcgrath (Castlebridge), got the better of trap six's Larkfield Wisp in 29.98.
Heat three was even closer as only a short head decided it, with Morning Odds (trap four), owned and trained by John Kavanagh, just getting it from Andys Biddy (trap three) in a time of 30.18.
Race six, an A5, went to the Harry Seerytrained Challengingtimes who was scoring for the 14th time when proving three ltengths too strong for Barro Betty in 29.44. William Mccluskey and S. Barton are the owners.
Race seven, an A6, the Showgrounds Stake first semi, was a very tight finish as old boy Wide Load (trap one) just held on from trap five's Kiltrea Roy in 29.66 for David Sutton.
The second semi went to trap six runner Neds Dream, owned by Eamon Leacy, coming through to score by seven lengths from Southern Girl (trap one) in 29.51.
Thursday night was an all-graded card and the weather was far from agreeable, with wind and rain making conditions very unpleasant. The first race was the re-run of the void race of last week, an A3 575, with trap one a non-runner, leaving five runners.
Trap three's Willies Brindle led and looked the likely winner until trap four runner Tombreane Hawk, owned by John Ennis (Co. Wicklow), put in a strong finish up the straight to get there by three-quarters of a length in 32.19.
Race two, an A5, saw Tain Tara (trap one) lead but being challenged at the third bend by Sheehans Bullet (trap five) who went on to get the better of Tain by a head in 29.49. The winning owner is Paul Morrissey.
Race three, an A4, saw yet another winner come from behind as Related Queen (trap three) led, but trap four's Barnacrow Shout, owned by Frank Gavin (Naas), took it up at the third bend to go away to score by four lengths in 29.49.
An A4 575 was next and there was a clear winner as trap two's Lochdara Mazara, owned by Elaine Whelan, led and raced to a wide margin win of nine lengths in 31.98.
Race five, an A3, saw trap one's Ballyboro Dew lead but being passed by Piercestown In at the third bend. Ballyboro came back to score by three-quarters of a length from reserve K Kiltrea Ray in 29.63 for owner Darren Mevlitt (Enniscorthy).
It was a good night for coming from behind as trap one's Dogtanian, owned by the Littlest Hobo syndicate (D. James), powered past leader Doodles Rocket (trap three) to score by four lengths in 29.38 in the sixth race, an A3.
Race seven, an A2 (550), was a good close-run race. Trap one's reserve S, Barnarock, owned by Alan Neville, came in to score by the minimum distance from reserve Q Lady Loury Lee who finished strongly, with Pinewood Bell just threequarters of a length away in 30.99.
The eighth race, an A1, was another close thing as trap three's Ushers Luke led and looked like scoring handily, but trap one runner Insane Bolt put in a strong finish to get to within a neck of Ushers in 29.42.
The winning owner is Martin Codd and the trainer is David Morris.
Race nine, an A3 550, saw trap five's Clean Linen, owned by James Nolan (Enniscorthy), lead and run on gamely to hold Panda Amber to score her fifth win from 16 starts in a time of 30.73.
