Molloy plays starring role for W.I.T.

Wednesday March 03 2010

MARK MOLLOY of St. James' played a significant role at midfield for W.I.T. in their 0-14 to 0-12 Fitzgibbon Cup quarter-final victory over D.I.T. in Ballygunner on Wednesday last, setting up a meeting with a highly-fancied U.L. on Friday next in Dangan at 2 p.m.

He was joined on the squad by another four Slaneysiders who weren't used, namely Colin Leacy (Ferns St. Aidan's), James Gahan (Ballygarrett), Joe Kelly (Shelmaliers) and Michael Walsh (Ferns St. Aidan's).

Molloy hadn't as much luck when he lined out at right half-back in W.I.T's 0-12 to 0-10 loss to eventual champions I.T. Tralee in the Trench Cup football semi-final in Maynooth on Friday last.

Shane Roche, formerly of Geraldine O'Hanrahans and a member of the Wexford Senior football panel, appeared in the last three minutes for D.C.U. in their Sigerson Cup semi-final win over the hosts from N.U.I. Maynooth later that day. He wasn't involved 24 hours later when they beat U.C.C. in Leixlip to bring the coveted trophy to Glasnevin for the second time.
