Three Wexford natives will be heading to Gwangju in South Korea next month to participate in the 28th World University Games which run from July 3 to 14.
Ballinaboola's Gráinne Murphy from University of Limerick will represent Ireland in freestyle swimming, while there is a local involvement with both soccer teams.
Recently-capped international Ciara Rossiter of W.I.T. will line out with the women, while Dylan Mernagh from U.L. is on the men's team.
The latter side also includes five non-natives who have featured with Wexford Youths in the SSE Airtricity First Division this season, all attending I.T. Carlow: Stephen Last (Dublin), Andy Mulligan (Carlow), Eric Molloy (Carlow), Jonny Bonner (Donegal) and Dean Broaders (Kilkenny).
And it will mean that Shane Keegan will be forced to field a depleted squad for the league games at home to Mernagh's Waterford United on July 3 and away to Cobh Ramblers one week later.
Two more Wexford Youths Women are on the squad with Rossiter, namely Jessica Gleeson (W.I.T. and Waterford), and Claire O'Riordan (I.T. Carlow and Limerick).
The full Team Ireland delegation in South Korea comprises 140 students and officials from 18 third level institutions, with 23 counties represented.
