Ace display by youths
ANOTHER FANTASTIC run by the juvenile Model county handballers saw them once again overturn old rivals Kilkenny in the Leinster finals at Garryhill, Co. Carlow, recently, with Wexford taking home the winners' medals in the boys' Under-12 singles, Under-13 singles and Under-13 doubles.
Rally is a definite starter
AS THE closing date passes for the Riverbank House Hotel Dick Bailey stages rally 2010, the committee of Wexford Motor Club are fully committed to the running of this year's staging of this long-established rally. We are still under subscribed and are actively seeking late entries, and to this end, anyone interested can still contact Pat O'Dowd, clerk of the course, on 087-9184022, or use the entry systems available on www.wexfordmotorclub.com.
Murphy Memorial for Ferns
THE NEXT big road running event in County Wexford takes place this coming Saturday as Sliabh Buidhe Rovers A.C. will stage the Mick Murphy Memorial four miles road race and fun run. The run will start at 5.30 p.m., with entries being taken in Ferns Community Centre from 4 p.m.
Another wonderful medals haul
THE CURTAIN was brought down on the HSE Community Games national finals on Sunday, August 22, at Athlone I.T. Over the three weekends, children from all over the county participated with distinction in most of the activities. To say they brought honour to family, area and county would be an understatement; they did more than that, and it showed in their results. From the three weekends, the amount of medals brought home was exceptional and I reckon that 2010 was probably our best to date.
Grasstrack action in Camolin
SUNDAY NEXT sees the final round of the Irish Grasstrack championship stop in Co. Wexford, close to the village of Camolin. Regular motocross fans will be familiar with this type of event as the competitors use the same machines as they do for motocross racing, the difference being that grasstrack races see much higher speeds.
'Coco' dashes to first heat success
THE SECOND round of the Reggie and Phil Turner Memorial Leger was completed on Thursday last, and heat one went to the Nick Turner-trained 'Coco Dash' owned by Oliver Flynn (Waterford).
Doran's Bridge defeat Monart to lay claim to Paddy Owens Cup
