County Wexford showjumper Bertram Allen, along with Kildare dressage rider, Judy Reynolds, are confident that they will find out in the next couple of days that they have secured Olympic places for Ireland.

However, Horse Sport Ireland have so far declined to speculate if the pair or showjumper Denis Lynch have been successful in their bids.

The qualifying period close on Sunday night and the Federation Equestre International (F.E.I.) said it is hoping to be in a position to announce today (Tuesday) those countries that secured individual places.

Allen is in line to earn qualification as leader of Ireland's geographical group, with the mare 'Molly Malone V'.

Allen said: 'I do believe I have won a place in the Olympics for Ireland but must await confirmation from the F.E.I.'.
