Connors crowned best in land
The All-Ireland singles championships, Divisions 1 and 2 were held in Tegral, Kildare, on Saturday.
Division 1 semi-finals: Paddy Connors (Woodsmen) beat Chris McDonald (Woodsmen), 21-18; John Giltrap (Woodsmen) beat John Joe Byrne (Monageer), 21-17.
Final: Paddy Connors beat John Giltrap, 21-14.
Connors was outstanding on the day, and in scintillating form in the final.
Well done to him and commiserations to John Giltrap who was strong throughout.
This is Paddy's first All-Ireland singles title, and one that was very long overdue for such a fantastic thrower.
Division 2 semi-finals: Willie Murtagh (Gouleyduff) beat Pat Leigh (Gouleyduff), 21-13; Mick Doyle (Gouleyduff) beat Dan Hartman (Galway), 21-15.
Final: Willie Murtagh beat Mick Doyle, 21-14.
Congratulations to Willie, who was fantastic, with a strong showing from Gouleyduff in general.
The All-Ireland ringers were also held in Tegral on Saturday.
Division 1: winner, Dennis Ryan (Gouleyduff), 26; runner-up, Paddy Byrne (Gouleyduff), 19.
Division 2: winner, Willie Murtagh (Gouleyduff), eleven; Gerry Connors (Woodsmen), four.
Well done to Dennis Ryan, and congratulations to Willie Murtagh on a good day.
The Leinster open was held in Páirc Mhuire on Friday.
Woodsmen beat Gouleyduff in the first division final in two straight games, while the second division saw Doran's Bridge beat Monart in two straight games.
Woodsmen then beat Doran's Bridge in the divisions final.
Congratulations to the Woodsmen on a commanding performance.
It was a good week for them with three of the lads in the All-Ireland singles final as well as winning the Leinster open.
The Anthony Larkin open doubles will be held in the league field in Ferns on Saturday, July 16, at 7 p.m.
