The second round of the Ballagh Open Unraced Stake featured on Monday of last week at Enniscorthy Greyhound Track and some cracking runs were recorded.

Three of the four heats were won in sub 29-second times, with Ballinclare Solo just edging the fastest run of 28.82 for the in-form kennel of Eilish McCann, Gorey, showing good early form to lead from trap to line in heat four.

The young Piercestown Leaf put in a very pleasing run for 'Shanks' Whelan in heat one when going to the lead down the back to score a fine 28.96 win.

Heat two saw the Daniel Frayne-owned and trained Southeast Jack show good early form to open up a clear lead into the back before going on to score easily in 29.11.

Heat three saw a fine performance from Willmount Pearl who came from off the pace to get up in the closing stages to score in a good 28.86.

This week's semi-finals will be two cracking contests and there is great interest in what is turning out to be a hot stake. Willmount's connections, Eamon Darcy and Oliver McGrath, enjoyed another fine win in race eight when full brother Only For Joy followed up his good Waterford debut win by scoring in a good 28.96.

Trainer Anton Butler enjoyed a nice double also as Telex Ping took race eight on Monday night while Telex Hawk scored in the first race on Thursday night, a sprint.

The Hennessys from Wicklow enjoyed a nice couple of winners on Thursday night when Martin's Maid In China took race two ,while Pádraic's Wickla Rahillion was a runaway winner of the Showgrounds A5 600 yards final (race six) in a very good time of 32.73.
