Good prices for Wexford winners

A couple of impressive recent winners from Wexford Stables were supplemented into the Goffs Sale at Doncaster on January 24 and fetched good prices. Those noted include:

Minella Encore, five-year-old bay gelding by Kings Theatre, owned by John Nallen and consigned by Colin Bowe and his Milestone Stables, sold for £100,000. Unlucky to fall at the second-last in Borris when going great guns, he shed his maiden tag next time out with a ten lengths victory at Killeagh.

John Paul and Marie Brennan from Monasootha, Camolin, got £50,000 for Indian Hercules, a brown gelding by Whitmore Con who beat a short-priced favourite to win at Aghabullogue on January 8 under Rob James.

Michael Goff from Clondaw, Ferns, was noted doing a bit of stocking up for the future with four 2016 colt foal purchases, including £20,000 for a bay by Norse Dancer/Amber Cloud; £16,000 for a bay by Kayf Tara/Somethinaboutmolly; £6,000 for a chestnut by Shirocco/Karingas Legacy, and £7,500 for a bay by Schiaparelli/Princess Claudia. Good luck to him with them.

Tattersalls Ireland had quite a low-key sale on Tuesday, but purchases were noted by trainer Liz Doyle (€9,500 for a bay by Beneficial/Be Mine Tonight) and by regular points rider, Rob James (€10,000 for a bay colt by Beat Hollow/Coppenagh Lady, put up by Garryrichard Stud).
