Gorey 3 Day cycling this weekend
THE ANNUAL Gorey 3 Day bike race takes place this weekend (April 15-17), and as ever it's set to be an exciting event.
Riders from all over the country and abroad will take part, and of course riders from the local Gorey Cycling Club.
Local riders to look out for are Brendan Dunne, Darren Davitt and John Whyte. All three riders are in good race condition and looking forward to the event. This marks the 50th year of the event which brings hundreds of spectators to the town.
Stage 1 (Saturday): Leaving Blessington at noon, the race proceeds through Hacketstown, Tinahely, Carnew, Craanford, Camolin and Gorey where the riders will take the left at the Monument and head back to the finish in Craanford (127 km.).
Stage 2 (Sunday): Leaving Gorey at 11 a.m. and heading to Craanford, taking the left in Craanford and heading for Camolin where the riders will take the left on the main road and head back to Gorey. This will be four laps and will finish on the hill in Craanford (91 km.).
Stage 3 (Monday): Leaving Gorey at 11 a.m. from the Loch Garman Arms Hotel, the riders head up the Main Street and take the right at the Monument heading for Carnew, Tullow, Blessington (91.4 km.).
