Meanwhile, there was a large turn-out on Friday evening for the launch of the new tennis courts at Wexford Harbour Boat and Tennis Club. The proceedings were officiated by Minister Brendan Howlin and Cllr. George Lawlor who were delighted to see the end result of the Sports Capital Funding.
Members had an enjoyable evening of tennis followed by a barbeque to mark the occasion.
Special thanks are owed to the tennis captain, Bernie Morrissey, and Nicky Rossiter and members of the committee for their efforts throughout the process of securing funding and selecting the courts.
Friday also saw the launch of the Rocket Broadband Senior open which will take place over the August Bank Holiday weekend and is likely to attract some of the top talent in the country.
This year will see the return of the Sunday night barbeque, the much-missed social event of the summer. Tickets will be on sale shortly, so keep an eye on the club Facebook page for further details.
