Former Wexford Vixens player Katie Fitzhenry is still on course to compete in the Rio Olympics.
The Ireland women's sevens team booked its place at next year's World Olympic Repechage tournament with a superb second place finish at the Rugby Europe competition in Lisbon last weekend.
The Wexford girl, now playing with the Blackrock club in Dublin, figured in all of Ireland's games on their way to the cup final.
Ireland dominated Group B with convincing wins over Romania (52-0), Belgium (24-5) and Ukraine (50-0).
In the quarter-final Ireland defeated Germany (40-0), before handing a 28-5 semi-final defeat to host country, Portugal.
In the cup final they narrowly lost out 26-19 to Spain, but it was still a most beneficial weekend for the developing squad.
