The county badminton final took place in Taghmon Community Centre recently with Taghmon and Kilrush-Askamore competing.
In the first singles match, Jack Nolan from Kilrush-Askamore faced Evan O'Hanlon from Taghmon and he won out in two straight sets to give his team a good start. Taghmon did not sit back though and Paddy Nolan equalised for them by winning his singles match against Owen Doran.
So it was all down to the doubles match where James Doran and Aaron O'Hara (Kilrush-Askamore) took on Jack and James Kelly from Taghmon. The first set was a great battle with the Kilrush-Askamore pairing having the upper hand, taking the game 21-18.
Now with the confidence growing, the Kilrush-Askamore boys went on to take the second set as well and with it the county title. We wish them the very best in the Leinster rounds of the competition.
