Gorey Ladies were on the road in the Leinster League and their opponents were Garda/Westmanstown.
Garda started stronger and it wasn't long before their good work paid off, as their number 8 went over in the corner for a try which they failed to convert.
As the game wore on Gorey's dominance grew but nothing seemed to be going their way, until a loose ball was scooped up by Sarah Killick and she ran in to score.
Scrum-half Lauren Farrell was a menace to the Garda ladies and the referee awarded Gorey a penalty try after she grubbered the ball through and was deemed to be held back from scoring. Jessica Foote converted from the tee.
Garda's strong out-half and back row had no joy as they were kept at bay by the fantastic centre partnership of Ciara Tomkins and Aoife Crowe.
Gorey got themselves on the scoreboard again after Lorraine Gahan out-ran all but one of the Garda ladies. Great support from Anna Nolan and Nuala Kelly meant that Ciara Breen simply had to flash the ball out wide to Jessica Foote who ran in to score unopposed.
Strong tackles by Dee Farrell were key in keeping the Garda attacking side out. Gorey were chasing the bonus point and with only minutes remaining out-half Ciara Breen broke through the tough defence to score under the posts.
The result meant Gorey went two points clear with a game in hand.
