Masters joy for Wexford athletes

The National Masters track and field was held in Tullamore recently, and a large number of athletes from Wexford travelled to compete in these championships.

Jackie Carthy of Kilmore won the W45 3,000m, while Ann Gilshinan (Menapians) won the W50 1,500m.

Ann Maguire (St. Anne's) won the W65 200m and discus and was second in the shot, while John McGrath (United Striders) was third in the 1,500m M40.

Niall Sheil (St. Killian's) was third in the 1,500m M35, and Laura Halpin (Menapians) was first in the discus and third in the shot W40.

Shoyeja Hesekiah was second in the javelin M40, while Pat Crossan was second in the 400m and 200m M50.

Also competing but outside the medals were John O'Connor (Slaney Olympic), Matt Flannelly (United Striders), Dave Percival and Michael Halpin (Menapians), and Gerry Devereux (S.B.R.).
