NEWBAY brought a fine season in clay pigeon shooting to an end by taking the runner-up position at the recently held All-Ireland Finals in Ardee, Co Louth.
The team of Roland Morris, Davy Benson, Mick Watts, Colin Doyle, John Byrne and David Benson Jnr competed against teams from all over the country on the 50 target sporting course, shot over eight stands.
The club shot well and finished with an excellent score of 224 (John Byrne finishing highest of the Newbay shooters team with 47) to take the overall lead by eleven targets at that stage.
However this year the score was not enough, with the Limerick team coming in with 232, to secure first place.
Second was a good achievement for the Wexford team though, one of many team and individual honours its members have secured during a successful season.
