O'Connor masters opponents in the pool

Adrian O'Connor of New Ross brought a gold medal home for Ireland from the World Masters swimming championships in Kazan on Tuesday.
O'Connor claimed gold in the 200m backstroke, winning his 40-44 age group with a time of 2.18.82.
The 43-year-old competed for Ireland at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia, in the 100m and 200m backstroke respectively.
O'Connor previously won two golds and a silver at the corresponding Masters championships in 2011 which were held in Yalta in the Ukraine.
On that occasion Adrian stormed home in the 100m backstroke in a time of 1:03.46 and he also took gold in the 200m in the same discipline with a time of 2:20.14. The New Ross native's silver medal came in the 50m backstroke which he completed in 28.64.
