Rosslare Ladies: It was an easy start to the first 18-hole competition of the year - team of three, little wind, the sun was shining, and only two scores to count on each hole except three scores on the par threes. Revised handicaps are now posted up so please check in case yours has been amended over the winter.
All are welcome to play in our Easter competitions: Friday (mixed team of four), Saturday (fourball) and Monday (team of four), and are open to green fees.
Tuesday, March 29, will be a singles strokes medal competition sponsored by The Forge Craft Shop, and the start of the golfer of the year competition sponsored by Wexford Windscreen Centre.
There is still time to enter the Nancy Todd singles and fourball matchplay - the closing date is April 2 (envelopes are in the locker room).
The draw for partners in the fourball is on April 5. There is a welcome night also on April 5 for the ladies' golf taster session at 6.30 p.m.

Next weekend marks the official opening of the new season when we stage our Captains' drive-in. John and Aine are looking forward to welcoming all the members to a day of celebration.
Following the drive-in, the draw will be made for the nine-hole shotgun start. Golf and formalities over, we will all retire to the clubhouse to be wined, dined and have the craic. Make a date, not to be missed.

Congratulations to Des Nash who was last weekend's winner of our weekly Joker draw. Des won €50 and the jackpot now stands at almost €2,400 for next Sunday nigh'ts draw.

Our first inter-club competition this year is the All-Ireland fourball. This team is managed by the experienced Sean 'Crofter' Crosbie, who is no stranger to the winning enclosure with John Pitt and Mick Fortune. This team is out on April 2 against New Ross.
The Senior section held a scramble last Tuesday with the team of Seán O'Keeffe, Brendan Long, Pat Kavanagh and Seamus Sills the winners. In second place were Martin Frehill,E ddie Cousins and Richard Pierce, while in third place were Peter Roche, the evergreen Jim Roice, Phil Murphy and Edward Maguire Snr.
The winners of Wednesday's 14-hole fourball were club Secretary Paul Hynes and Adrian Doran with a score of 36 points.
We held an 18-hole singles competition on St. Patrick's Day and the winner was Paddy O'Reilly on 36 points. Second was Mick Creane on 34 points and third was Declan Furlong on 33 points.
The weekend competition was the Martin's Jewellers-sponsored foursomes qualifiers. A total of 32 pairs qualified for the matchplay games which must be played off in the next three weeks.
There was some excellent scoring, particularly on Sunday with a score of 64 to 72 qualifying.

Rathaspeck Golf Society teed off for the first time this year with a three-man team event played over the weekend. The winning team with a great score of 83 points was Ray Nolan, James Byrne and Mick Murphy.
The Society A.G.M. was held in the clubhouse at noon on Saturday and was very well attended.
Mick Farrell, the outgoing Captain, was warmly applauded and thanked for his help, particularly in the organising and running of our away fixtures. Mick remains on as a committee member for 2016.
One of our very popular and most enthusiastic members, Ray Nolan, was unanimously elected Captain for 2016.
This year's committee consists of the Captain Ray Nolan and Secretary Mick Cuddihy, with Mick Farrell, Jim Noctor and James Byrne completing it.
The Society 'free sub' competition will be held on the weekend of April 2-3.
