The June Bank holiday weekend saw teams travel from all over the country to compete in the annual Horetown polocrosse tournament.
With glorious sunshine on both days, only interrupted intermittently with the odd shower, games were played without any delays and enjoyed by the large crowd of spectators.
All grades were very competitive and on Saturday evening there was very little separating the teams. Sunday's games proved extremely exciting with winners emerging by late afternoon.
The club would like to thank their many sponsors and volunteers, as without them there would not be any tournament. Results were as follows -
'A' grade: 1, World Cup men; 2, Horetown 2; 3, World Cup women; best player, Emily McDonagh; best horse, Voltage (Shane Harris).
'B' grade: 1, Carrickmines; 2, Tyrella/Cork; 3, Wicklow Bay; best player, Cillian Boland; best horse, Outlaw (Cillian Boland).
'C' grade: 1, Carrickmines; 2, Wicklow Bay; 3, Kilkenny/Tipperary; best player, Paddy Flavin; best horse, Missile (Paul Scott).
'D' grade: 1, Carrickmines; 2, Horetown; 3, Wicklow Bay; best player, Joe Mangan; best horse, Bourbon (Theo Boland).
Best turned out team of the tournament: Horetown 'B' grade team.
Well done to all players and best of luck at the next tournament in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary next weekend.
