Racing double-header at Bettyville over weekend

All roads lead to Bettyville this weekend for the track's summer double-header meeting.

The action gets under way with National Hunt racing on Friday evening, with the first off at 5.30 p.m. On Saturday, there is Flat action as well as great prizes up for grabs as part of the annual best dressed lady competition (with luxurious prizes generously sponsored by the Monart Destination Spa to be won).

Saturday's fun gets under way at 2.20 p.m. with entertainment for young and old.

For so long the dominant force in Flat racing, Clonroche's Aidan O'Brien is just one win away from recording a clean sweep of Group races in Ireland after success for Wedding Vow in the Group 2 Kilboy Estate Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday.

Only Fairyhouse's Brownstown Stakes eludes the champion trainer who will have to wait until next July, at least, to set yet another remarkable record.

Racing takes place at the following Irish racetracks over the coming week: Ballinrobe, Tuesday, July 21 (first race 5.50 p.m.); Naas, Wednesday, July 22 (first race 5.55 p.m.); Leopardstown, Thursday, July 23 (first race 5.50 p.m.); Limerick, Thursday, July 23 (first race 5.35 p.m.); Down Royal, Friday, July 24 (first race 5.40 p.m.); Wexford, Friday, July 24 (first race 5.30 p.m.), and Wexford, Saturday, July 25 (first race 2.20 p.m.).
