Ross women improving

The New Ross women's team travelled to Kildare on Sunday to take on NM Falcons who are a combination of three clubs.

New Ross had to field with 13 players due to injuries and unavailability of other players and were under pressure from the start. Despite putting in a good performance in the first-half, some lapses in concentration and weak tackling allowed NM Falcons in for some easy scores.

It took New Ross time to settle with a lot of players playing out of position and taking a while to get familiar with their new role. Two late tries in injury time in the first-half gave NM Falcons a 20-0 lead at the break, but the scoreline did little justice to the New Ross efforts.

Shortly into the second-half New Ross were further hampered when Sharon Grant had to leave the field after a serious injury. Despite losing one of its finest players, the New Ross team put in one of their best performances of the season for the rest of the second-half.

They conceded no more scores and were unlucky not to score twice from some impressive attacking play. With the team spirit and commitment shown, they can feel confident success will come their way soon.
