Ryan Carthy Walsh wins silver in Georgia

Wexford High Jump sensation, Ryan Carthy Walsh from Adamstown AC, has jumped his way to a European Youth Olympic Silver medal in Tbilisi, Georgia on Wednesday afternoon.

Ryan jumped a new PB of 2.09m to earn the 2nd place position on the podium this evening, where the tri-colour will be raised for the third time in two days. Meath's Kevin McGrath and Limerick's Ciara Neville have won Gold in the 1500m and 100m respectively.

Ryan who won the Wexford Senior County Championships at Enniscorthy Sports Hub, the Leinster & National Championships at Junior and U17 level this year and is the National Record holder for his age, both indoors and outdoors, will turn 16 in August.

His coaches Nicky Cowman (Crossabeg) and Brid Golden (Ferrybank, Waterford) are both to be commended on this achievement.

Ryan will stay on with Team Ireland until the weekend in the Olympic Village in Tblisi where celebrations are already underway
