Skittles finals this weekend

The final stages of the Frank Jordan Cup were played on August 9 in Rathangan.
In the first semi-final, Esther Downes played Bill Redmond. Esther won the first game with an impressive finish of 14 and one. The second and third games were close with Bill just having the edge, finishing both games.
In the final game, Bill took out a finish of five, four , three and one, leaving Esther with no chance to reply and winning the match 3-1.
The second semi-final saw Jimmy Cullen take on Mick Carty. Mick finished the first two games, leaving Jimmy with no shot at a finish.
In the third game, Mick finished on 14 and one in five sticks.
Jimmy had sticks on the middle row and finished it in three to claim the game, making the score 2-1. Mick recovered well and gave Jimmy no chance in the fourth game, finishing the middle row with the throw in hand and winning the match 3-1.
Team-mates Bill Redmond and Mick Carty then faced each other in the final of this competition which is dedicated to the memory of their former team-mate, Frank Jordan.
Having won it last year, Mick was in no mood to let the title slip. In typical form, Mick played with a level of determination and skill that proved impossible to beat.
Despite playing well, Bill couldn't match Mick's game and Mick won 4-0 to retain the title.
South-East Skittle League - Senior Division final table: Taylorstown 33; St. Leonards 33; Frank Jordan's 32; Tallaught 29; Doyle's 23; Clonmines 19; Saltmills 17.
Junior Division final table: Mary Jo's 31; Power's 28; Micko's 'A' 27; Gusserane 21; Morrissey's 14; Micko's 'B' 7.
The top four teams in each division qualified for the semi-finals, played on the weekend of August 15. Results were unavailable at time of submitting this report.
The league finals will take place on Sunday, August 23, in Carrig-on-Bannow, with the Junior final to start at 5 p.m., followed by the Senior final at 6 p.m.
