The old game of skittles is alive and well
The old game of skittles, played for generations at the crossroads, is alive and well.
The South East skittles league began its seventh season on Tuesday. A ten-week fixture programme is in store for the 13 teams taking part and bidding to reach the semi-finals.
The league is divided in two sections, Seniors and Juniors, and each have their own finals.
Five teams will take part in the Seniors, and
two new teams - Tír na nOg and Alan Morrissey's - are welcome to the league this year.
They will join the six other teams in the Junior event which began on Friday.
The league adopted some rule changes at the recent A.G.M.
One of these is that there will be five games between each team on the night consisting of three team games and two games of doubles.
An action-packed and exciting number of weeks lies ahead for all involved.
