Despite the weather, there was a massive turn-out on Thursday for the annual Pettitt's gala night. A great night out was had by all and there was some big pay-outs on the tote, with a massive €518 trio won on the last race.

No-one should have went home hungry as there was a great array of free food and goodie bags for the children and face painting. Along with the band, it made for a real party atmosphere. Well done to Pettitt's for putting on a really great night's entertainment.

The Pettitt's SuperValu Stake final was the feature race and Brackenstown Ned, owned by James Mythen and Denis Leacy of Castlebridge, made good use of his inside trap draw to lead the field. He dug deep to hold the posse of challengers on the run to the line as Tomorrows Seán put in a power-packed finish on the rail, while the very unlucky Kiltrea Maura and novice Dromana Scampi were also finishing very well.

In the end Brackenstown Ned scored by a head from Tomorrows Seán to score his eighth race win in a time of 29.24.

Owner Thomas Doyle and trainer John Kavanagh are having a great run, and Mango Lad was a good winner of race four, following up his win of the previous week.

In this higher grade of A2, Mango made light work of it when scoring in style, coming right away to beat hot favourite Assain Og in a fast 28.75 - a career best.

Another impressive winner came in race seven when the Chris Ryan-owned Sunfire Cosmic was just different class in this A4 575 as he led and just went further and further clear to come home an easy winner in a very good 31.43. This was his eighth race win and on this running there is plenty more to come over this type of trip.
