Whitty in third spot in Ultra Marathon

MORE THAN 2,500 people took to the streets of Dingle town for the 2010 Dingle marathon, having registered for the Ultra, Full or Half marathon.

Runners from 23 countries took part in the race, with Shane Whitty from Wexford taking third place in the 50-mile men's Ultra Dingle marathon with a time of 7.07.21.

The route of the marathon took runners in a unique run, passing beautiful scenery, idyllic villages and historical sites, providing a natural lift of spirit for all the runners, as did the cheers from the supporters along the course as well as the three-piece orchestra on Slea Head.

Runners were also treated to a talk from renowned motivational speaker, world-class business coach and sports psychologist, Gary Leboff, on the eve of the marathon, aptly called 'Going the Extra Mile'.
