Woodsmen slay Monart to claim title

The county championship was held in Ferns last Wednesday.

In the Division 1 final the Woodsmen beat Monart 2-0.

The Division 2 final was a tight game with Vinegar Hill beating The Ballagh on a score of 2-1.

Congratulations to both teams on their well deserved victories.

The league final will be held in Belfield, Enniscorthy on Saturday, September 26. The Division 2 final will start at 2pm sharp with the Division 1 final to follow.

Division 1 sees old rivals The Woodsmen and Doran's Bridge face off. The Woodsmen must be considered favourites - they boast All-Ireland singles champion Tom Connors as well as being All-Ireland club champions, Leinster Open winners and winners of the afore mentioned county championship.

However, that'll mean nothing on the day if Doran's Bridge play well as Doran's Bridge seek to retain their league title, a league final in which they beat The Woodsmen last year.

Meanwhile, in Division 2, Vinegar Hill will face off against the Ballagh. Vinegar Hill beat the The Ballagh in the county championship and boast All-Ireland Division 2 singles champ John Mckeown -- but The Ballagh performed brilliantly in the league so this should also be very close.

The referees for the league finals will John Joe Byrne and Dennis Larkin Sr.

All in all we hope for an excellent day of horseshoes, good luck to all teams involved.
