Rovers return to summit

SHAMROCK ROVERS have returned to the Premier Division summit.

The Fr. Murphy Park side took full advantage of their rivals' other commitments as they edged past Campile United to overhaul North End United at the top of the table.

United could have climbed to third spot with a win over Rovers but they failed to do so as they suffered their third defeat of the season. They did put up a good fight and managed two goals but that wasn't enough as the hosts ran out 4-2 winners.

Marty Kelly helped himself to a brace against the Tom O'Neill Park men and he was joined on the scoresheet by Martin McKeown and Eamon O'Brien as Rovers made it five wins from five.
