Plentiful talent in blitz
Wednesday February 24 2010
SATURDAY LAST saw teams travel from Clane, Wicklow, Gorey and home side Wexford participate in a Leinster Under-17 blitz.
For a young group, a lot of talent was seen from all sides, and the stamina of the young Wexford girls shone through under the capable management of newly-elected coach, Anthony Walsh.
Taking into consideration that this was the first time this group of Wexford girls faced an opposition together, their skill level and team spirit shone through even though their efforts fell short of being recognised on the scoreboard.
Best tackler went to Anna Culleton and newcomer Aishling Fagan got player of the match. The Wexford girls ended the day on a high with a great game against Wicklow.
This side will be put to the test again when Wicklow host the next Leinster bliz on March 6, with all supporters welcome. Appreciation goes to referees Patricia Ryan and Joesphine Barry.
