Vixens defeat Roscrea

ONCE AGAIN Wexford Vixens succeeded, coming out on top with great difficulty against a strong, physical Roscrea team at Park Lane on Sunday last.
From the kick-off, Wexford kept Roscrea down in their half, and eventually succeeded in scoring a try.
Vixens' number 8, Carrie Doyle, picked the ball from the back of a ruck, made good ground before popping it off to full-back Máire Busher who ran it in from 20 yards under the posts.
Number 12 Katie Fitzhenry then converted the try to bring it to 7-0 at halftime.
The second-half saw a lot of play on the halfway line, where Roscrea put massive pressure on Wexford's defence.
However, Vixens kept their cool and, with great determination, forced Roscrea to make a mistake.
Wexford's centre, Katie Fitzhenry, got her foot to a loose ball to kick it up the wing, and she was then forced over the five-metre line with the ball, for a Roscrea lineout.
With great jumping skills and hands, number 5 Shendah Moran stole the line-out and ran over the try line, bringing the scoreline to 12-0 at full-time and ensuring a deserved victory for the determined Vixens side who are steadily improving.
Training takes place on Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30 p.m. All new players welcome (no experience necessary).
