Adamstown stunned Premier Division champions Ferns United in the Wexford Women's Cup Final on Sunday in New Ross Celtic.

Adamstown 1 Ferns United 0

A single Chantelle Martin goal was all the Division 1 side needed to claim their second trophy in 7 days and punish United’s lacklustre display. It had been a relatively even opening half before Martin’s shot evaded goalkeeper Nicola Kirwan on the stroke of half-time.

In an end to end second period, Adamstown had the better of the chances. Striking the crossbar on three occasions through Katie White, Anne Marie Dunphy and Ashling Whelan.

At the other end, Leanne Dempsey in goal for the cup winners had to be at her best at times to keep out United’s Leona Breen while Niamh Kelly’s miraculous clearance six minutes into injury time sealed the Cup for Adamstown.
