United capture the Youth Division 3 title
Campile United's Youths team have put to bed the old saying that 'leagues can't be won in January'.
As of January 28 they had the Division 3 title won with nine played, nine won, 43 for and six against.
It was a great achievement for these lads as they played most of the season with ten men.
The squad was small to start with, containing 14 members, and as most managers know at this level you will not have all players available every game. But the lads got on with it and worked, making some vital saves along the way.
The defence of Jim Wallace at right-back, the centre-back partnership of the very strong Cathal Mernagh and Danny Murphy, with Owen Whitty left-back was, as most teams found out, very hard to break down.
The heartbeat of the midfield were Darragh Kent and Jamie Wallace, with some fantastic football being played by these two boys.
At left midfield was Nigel Dunne and right midfield Dylan Whitty, and with tireless running on both sides, they helped with attacking and defending when needed.
Ben Cummins and Jack White up front are ever-willing runners, defending from the front.
There was a good spread of goal scorers with Jamie Wallace top scorer, followed by Ben Cummins and Darragh Kent.
The future looks bright as seven of the squad are 15/16 years of age.
Jamie Myler and Seán Nolan have county G.A.A. commitments and tried to play when available.
Both players would make any team stronger.
Squad: Aaron Mythen, Jim Wallace, Cathal Mernagh, Danny Murphy, Owen Whitty, Nigel Dunne, Darragh Kent, Jamie Wallace, Dylan Whitty, Ben Cummins, Jack White, Jamie Myler, Seán Nolan, Peter Waters.
