KILKENNY COUNTY Under-12s won the Tracie Lawlor Memorial Cup recently after a two-day tournament at Bunclody. Eight teams served up some good and exciting football despite the poor weather.

The Bunclody pitches were all in beautiful condition. In the final Kilkenny beat Wicklow 1-0, in the trophy Wayside Celtic beat Carlow 3-2, in the Sheild Wexford Gold beat The All Stars 4-2, and in the Plate Carlow beat Wexford Purple on penalties after finishing 1-1 in the 60 minutes.

Stevie Kearns, a squad member with Wexford Gold, got man of match in the Shield final. The organisers would like to thank Martin Healy, Eileen Mullett and Terry Cooke of the Schoolboys League, Joe Robinson, Ian and Joseph Lawlor who all did the presentations.

A special word of thanks to Colm O'Byrne and Tosh Cowman who on the previous Friday got a team of All Stars together when unfortunately Waterford had to pull out due to the death of the mother of their manager, Tom Browne.
