Ciara Rossiter crowned a truly marvellous season for Wexford Youths Women's A.F.C. with her selection as young player of the year last week.

The awards were presented on Wednesday at a special luncheon in the Clyde Court Hotel in Dublin, with Rossiter's five clubmates chosen on the team of the season along with her also honoured.

Indeed, there was only one category which didn't feature a Wexford Youths success, as the overall player of the year honour went to Aine O'Gorman of UCD Waves. Carol Breen, Kylie Murphy and Claire O' Riordan were nominated for that award.

The awards were presented by Eamon Naughton, Chairman of the Women's National League committee, and Peter Robb, Marketing Communications Manager, Continental Tyre Group.

That team of the season was: Mary Rose Kelly (Wexford Youths), Nicola Sinnott (Wexford Youths), Ciara Rossiter (Wexford Youths), Keara Cormican (Galway), Niamh Walsh (Raheny United), Karen Duggan (UCD Waves), Kylie Murphy (Wexford Youths), Aine O'Gorman (UCD Waves), Claire O'Riordan (Wexford Youths), Carol Breen (Wexford Youths), Katie McCabe (Raheny United).

Rossiter was up against team-mate Aisling Frawley in the young player category, as well as Cork's Shannon Carson. A student at W.I.T., Rossiter has had a tremendous season and was delighted to receive the award.

The Continental Tyres Women's National League trophy is continuing to do the rounds of schools, clubs, events and venues around the county.

Having won the league title earlier this month, the Youths Women are trying to fulfil all the requests the team is receiving to visit various places with the trophy.

Last week came the turn of The Maldron Hotel, Wexford, who were one of the Youths Women's proud main sponsors for the 2014-2015 season - with their name being printed across the back of the jerseys. Wexford Youths Women's Rianna Jarrett visited The Maldron's Club Vitae leisure centre with the trophy.

The Youths Women's team are extremely thankful to each and every one of the sponsors for their support over the past season and hope that this much-valued support may continue throughout the coming 2015-2016 season when the Youths Women will, for the first time in the club's history, play in the UEFA Women's Champions' League, beginning in August.
