Cloughbawn put on map by Connal
Congratulations to Connal Flood who has put the Cloughbawn F.C. club name up in bright lights thanks to his selection on the Republic of Ireland Under-18 home-based squad for two international friendly matches against Wales in Tramore and Waterford later this month.
The panel was picked from the FAI inter-provincial youth tournament which took place in Waterford earlier this season and featured non-SSE Airtricity League players, although those who have since joined clubs at that level remain eligible.
Talented all-rounder Flood, who represented Wexford in Minor hurling last year, will feature in the games in Tramore on Monday, February 22, at 7 p.m., and in the R.S.C. on Wednesday, February 24, at 12 noon.
The Enniscorthy C.B.S. student is the only Wexford player included and his colleagues hail from clubs in Galway, Waterford, Dublin, Cork and Limerick, making him the sole representative from outside a major population centre.
Connal has a strong sporting heritage as his father, Seán, won an All-Ireland Senior hurling medal with Wexford in 1996, while his late grandfather, Tim, was one of the stars of the great team of the 1950s and '60s.
