The Wexford Youths Talent Development Programme's Under-11 squad wrapped up their season recently with away games against Arklow Town's Under-11 and -12 squads.
The young Youths brought two squads to Lamberton and came away with three wins and one defeat from the four games.
The 26-man panel is made up of players from Wexford's local clubs and began training last September after a series of trials in August.
During the course of the year the lads have had some great games and played some fantastic football against some very good sides including Ferrybank (Waterford), St. Kevin's Boys and St. Joseph's Boys (both Dublin) and Arklow Town (Wicklow).
'It has been great to play against these quality teams but at the end of the day the programme is not about results, it's about developing these young players for the future,' said programme co-ordinator Tom Elmes after the games.
The squad will now take a break before resuming training in July.
Next season this squad will progress to be the Under-12 squad and a new batch of young players will come in at Under-11 and Under-13.
Trials for these squads will take place in August.
The current programme management team of Dermot Warren, Brendan Corish, Conor McGuire and Eoin Healy have been really pleased with the progress the squad members have made this year.
They would like to thank all of the players and their parents for all the support this year as well as the local clubs and managers who have been very supportive of the programme.
