Ethan Boyle, the Wexford town lad who captained Waterford United during the season despite his tender years, has been included in Paul Doolin's Republic of Ireland Under-19 squad for the UEFA championships qualifying round.

He is one of just three from Division 1 Airtricity League clubs to be selected along with a UCD duo.

Doolin's side will face Slovenia, Latvia and Scotland with the top two sides from each to progress alongside the third-placed team with the best record against the top pair in their group.

The first game is against Slovenia in Eamon Deacy Park, Galway, on Friday, November 13, at 4 p.m. Latvia will visit the same venue on Sunday at 7.30 p.m., with the Scotland game on Wednesday, November 18, at 3.30 p.m. in the Markets Field, Limerick.
