Ferns beat Corach on penalties
CORACH RAMBLERS and Ferns United B had to go all the way to penalties in the Boland Carpets Cup before Ferns eventually made it through 3-1.
Sinéad O'Connor scored for Ramblers, with Niamh O'Leary replying for the visitors in a very closely-contested cup tie.
Shelburne and Wexford Celtic were the top draw in the first round of the Etchingham Cup and it was a match that lived up to expectations and was filled with drama. Goals from Lisa Marie Doyle and Bridget McDonald had Celtic 2-0 up at half-time, but two Angie Westnott goals late in the secondhalf brought the game to extratime.
The game looked to be heading for penalties until Shelburne were awarded a penalty with three minutes remaining which Niamh Murphy calmly dispatched to the net for a 3-2 victory.
