Ferns move clear
FERNS UNITED now sit nine points clear at the top of the Premier Division after young starlet Leona Breen put in a magnificent display as her side accounted for Kilmore on a 5-0 scoreline.
She scored two herself and was provider for the other three goals as she crossed for Liz Evered to score twice and Josie Dwyer once.
This win puts the leaders in the position of needing four points from their remaining two games to wrap up a title they have looked like winning since November.
North End moved out of the bottom two when they beat Glen Celtic 4-1 and leapfrogged their opponents, and look like they might be doing just enough to survive in the top flight for another season.
Charlene Breen scored for Celtic but two goals each from Nellie Walsh and Rianna Jarrett clinched the vital points for the Wexford side. Curracloe United ensured their safety in the top division when overcoming All Blacks 5-0 in a re-arranged fixture, with Tara Moloney and Shelly Doyle scoring two each while Claire Murphy also found the net.
