Ferns United set up a date with powerhouses Sheriff Y.C. in the last 16 of the FAI Junior Cup after they overcame the challenge of Carrigaline 2-1 on Sunday.

The sides were tied at 0-0 at the break, with Ferns coming closest to breaking the deadlocked with a Tommy Dwyer effort rebounding off the crossbar.

Ferns continued to play well after the interval and edged out their opponents with goals from Johnny Breen and Martin Redmond to set up a home tie against Dubliners Sheriff, who saw off North End in their last 32 clash.
