First piece of silverware for Ajax

Gaynor Cup Final

St. Cormac's 0, Ajax Athletic 2: A strong second-half performance from Ajax Athletic saw the Enniscorthy club pick up their first piece of silverware when overcoming a St. Cormac's side who were chasing their third Gaynor Cup in a row.

St. Cormac's enjoyed the better of the first-half but found Ajax difficult to break down, and the game reached half-time with the teams still deadlocked at 0-0.

Ajax Athletic's second-half performance was much better and they took the lead after 57 minutes when Siobhán Grant-Moorehead shot to the net.

St. Cormac's did what they could to get back on level terms but Ajax had their tails up at this stage and when Sophie Savage scored with 15 minutes to go, there was no coming back for St. Cormac's. Ajax went on to secure their first-ever trophy in the women's league. Siobhán Grant-wwMoorehead picked up a well deserved player of the match award.
