High fives for North End
Wexford Football League: Premier Division
North End United took another step towards regaining the Premier Division crown with a 5-0 triumph over Bunclody on Sunday.
The Wexford town outfit took a while to break the deadlock but once they did the floodgates opened. Paul 'Spot' Murphy got on the end of a Lee Smith corner to head the Sky Blues in front on 61 minutes, and Shane Dempsey doubled their advantage with a brilliant overhead scissor kick.
Gary Byrne ghosted in at the back post to head home a cross from substitute Jay Murphy, and Kyle Dempsey added the fourth when he got on the end of a delivery from former Kilmore United man Paul Murphy.
Substitute Lee Wadding also got on the scoresheet to round off a convincing win.
Shamrock Rovers kept their hopes of hanging on to their title alive with a 3-0 win away to New Ross Celtic, with James Carty, Danny Carroll and Ricky Dwyer getting the goals for the Enniscorthy men, following up a 7-0 win over Gorey Celtic in midweek.
Gorey Rangers were too good for Courtown Hibs in their north county derby, winning 2-0 with goals from David 'Swack' Behan and Adam Territt-King.
Moyne Rangers collected three points in midweek when they won 3-1 away to Courtown with goals from James Peare (two) and Alan Tobin. A Jeff Kearney goal was enough for Kilmore United to see off Rosslare Rangers.
