Man United legends to line out in Wexford
A team of Manchester United legends, including former Republic of Ireland international Frank Stapleton and Scottish international Arthur Albiston, will go head-to head with the Tesco Legends in Ferrycarrig Park, on Saturday, May 23.
The match, which kicks off at 3 p.m., has been organised to help raise vital funds for Tesco's Charity of the Year, Temple Street Children's University Hospital.
Players from Tesco stores across Wexford and Carlow will take to the pitch with local businesses including Staffords Bakery, J Donohoe and Molson & Hogan Print to take on a stellar team of iconic footballers including former English internationals Lee Martin and Neil Webb, former Northern Ireland internationals Keith Gillespie and Sammy McIlroy, former Wales international Clayton Blackmore, former Scottish professional footballer and director of youth academy at English side Manchester United Brian John McClair and two time FA cup winner David May.
The match is taking place to help raise funds to help Temple Street purchase much needed state of the art equipment including dialysis machines, ventilators and incubators.
Match tickets are available at Tesco Greystones, Bray, Wicklow, Arklow, Carlow, Wexford, New Ross, Ballybeg, Lisduggan and Gorey for €10 each or by calling John on 087 661 0049 or Karen on 087 225 7959. In addition, tickets are also available for a pre-match lunch with the players at the Riverside Park Hotel, in Enniscorthy, for €20, or a celebration evening dinner dance with the Manchester United Legends at the Riverside Park Hotel for €50.
All funds raised will go to Tesco's Charity of the Year, Temple Street Children's University Hospital.
