North End go on a scoring spree

NORTH END continued their impressive start to the campaign with an 8-1 drubbing of Ferns United.

The Wexford town side look like they could mount a serious challenge to holders New Ross Celtic and on Sunday they went on a scoring spree, with Craig McGuire and Alan Colgate netting doubles and Kyle Dempsey, Warren Broaders, Lee Walker (penalty) and Adam Beary adding a goal apiece.

Shamrock Rovers were another side to chalk up a comprehensive victory, winning 6-2 in Adamstown with goals from John Hudson (2), Marty Kelly, Ricky Fox, James Carty and Martin McKeown.

Elsewhere a second-half goal from Matty Flynn was enough for Bunclody to collect the three points against Courtown Hibs.

Courtown had a gilt-edged chance to get on the scoresheet but missed a penalty with the score at 0-0.
