Paul is spot on as North End United see off Rangers
North End United moved three points closer to regaining the Premier Division crown when they overcame Gorey Rangers 3-0 at Ramstown on Thursday evening.
Paul 'Spot' Murphy scored two penalties for the Sky Blues, with Kyle Dempsey adding the other goal for the Wexford town side. They were made to work hard for the win though, as they only held a 1-0 advantage with twelve minutes remaining.
Moyne Rangers kept themselves in the title race with a 3-0 win of their own as they ground out a victory over Gorey Celtic.
After a tight tussle, Richie Farrell eventually broke the deadlock on 65 minutes with a goal from the edge of the area.
Peter Marsden doubled the advantage from the penalty spot with ten minutes remaining and James Peare sealed the deal with a superb late goal.
The fight for the title looks to be a two-horse race between North End and Moyne now as holders Shamrock Rovers were held to a 0-0 draw by Courtown Hibs in their midweek game.
On Sunday, Gorey Celtic fought back from going a goal down to earn a 2-1 win over Rosslare Rangers, with Thomas Cloke and Dean McCann getting on the scoresheet for the winners.
