Ross Celtic off to flyer

Wednesday September 01 2010

CHAMPIONS NEW Ross Celtic got their campaign of to a winning start by overcoming Forth Celtic in a real goal-fest in Murrintown on Sunday. The teams attacked at every opportunity, which was reflected in the 7-4 scoreline at the finish. Ross Celtic got on the scoresheet through an own goal, Michael Grangel, Seán Culleton, Damien 'Fee' Cullen, substitute Mark Lee (2) and debutant Dylan Murphy, while a gallant Forth Celtic side replied through Paul Cowman, Ciarán Redmond (2) and Kevin Price (penalty).

North End United made a promising start on their return to the top flight with a 3-0 win away in Duncannon. Kieran Kelly, Stuart Lawlor and new signing Jason Murphy got the goals for last season's Wexford Cup winners.

Murphy had the chance to double his goal tally but saw his penalty come back off the crossbar.

Shamrock Rovers proved much too strong for newly-promoted Bunclody, winning 4-0 on their travels with goals from John Hudson, Mikey Dempsey, James Carty and Ricky Fox.

Fellow promoted side Adamstown fared better, winning 2-0 in Ferns with goals from Ian White and Liam Moore.

Elsewhere, Michael Kinsella was the match winner for Courtown Hibs, scoring the only goal of the game as his side got the better of Park Hotspur.
